All of the products carrying the SANYO logo, purchased as
new are now RoHS compliant without claiming the exemption in Article 8 of the
Directive .
The
RoHS legislation (EU Directive 2002/95/EU), concerning the Restriction
of Hazardous Substances and the reducing of the amount of pollution in the
Environment, came into effect on the 1st July 2006 . With this legislation, the
European Union and many other countries are banning toxic substances, in
electrical equipment, such as Lead, Cadmium, Mercury, Chromium 6+, PBB and PBDE,
because these do serious harm to the environment.
Complying
to this legislation has been a significant challenge to the SANYO
design, production and quality teams since all RoHS compliant equipment
and components had to meet SANYO's strict quality and performance standards.
However, SANYO is committed to being an indispensable element in the lives of
people world-wide and so welcomes such legislation that provides a clean
environment for the people of the earth.
